Morristown, NJ – Saint Elizabeth University Director of Athletics, Jennifer Virgil, recently announced Alfonso Nunez-Perez as the Head Men's Soccer Coach. Alfonso joined Saint Elizabeth in the winter of 2022 as an assistant coach under former head coach Chris Garcia where he helped the program achieve its best record in program history and make it to the CSAC Semi-finals for the second year in a row.
Prior to Saint Elizabeth, Nunez-Perez coached at Dover High School where he won three NJAC Liberty Division Championships (2017, 2018, 2020) and two North 2 Group 2 Championships (2017, 2020).
In 2021, he joined the NJ ODP 2010 Boys Coaching Staff, competing in regional ODP tournaments. He began his coaching career in 2013 at Dover Strikers Travel Soccer Club where he led his team to win the Morris County Youth Soccer Association (MCYSA) League Cup.
In 2023, he became the Director of Football and Head Coach at Cabras Football Club, leading their men's team in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL). He guided the team to secure promotion to the Premier Division in the club's inaugural season.
"I am thrilled to announce that Alfonso Nunez-Perez has accepted the position of Head Men's Soccer Coach here at Saint Elizabeth," stated Virgil. "Coming from the semi-professional arena, we are honored to have him leading our team."
Alfonso holds certifications from United Soccer Coaches, US Youth Futsal, the English FA, and MBP Coaching School (Spain), in addition to holding his USSF National C-Licence.
He currently resides in Randolph, NJ with his wife Emma Nunez-Perez and their mini golden-doodle Elly.
"I am extremely grateful and excited to head the Men's Soccer program at Saint Elizabeth University," Nunez-Perez stated. "I hope to continue to build on the solid program foundation formed by Chris Garcia and lead the team to new goals and ambitions, on and off the pitch."
