Morristown, N.J.- The College of Saint Elizabeth's volleyball team has high hopes for the 2015 season with the addition of first year coach
Amanda Rodrigues, as well as eight new student-athletes.
The Eagles, who finished last year with a 10-21 mark, will look to first year head coach
Amanda Rodrigues to lead them in the right direction. "The 2015 season is about change and positive culture. We want our players to be excited for each workout and competition while also focusing on improvement and individual growth. The coaching staff is raising the bar and our expectation is having our players take responsibility for individual development on a daily basis, which will bring about better results in competition in the 2015 season."
Rodrigues made it a goal to recruit fresh faces, and that was evident as she added eight new student-athletes to the team. Freshmen,
Vanessa Gallego,
Mikaela Gongorga,
Carolina Marte,
Christy Marte,
Stacey Medina, and
Renata Miranda will add depth and talent to the Eagles. The team also added junior transfer
Rachel Merino from Passaic County Community College, as well as sophomore
Ashley Morera, who will be playing alongside her twin sister, Nicole.
The Eagles will be returning the majority of their offense from last season with 5 upperclassmen coming back.
Nicole Morera,
Ayesha Brannon,
Kiana Cunningham,
Lynette Hardy, and
Natasia Wilson will look to improve upon last year's results. Reigning team MVP
Nicole Morera lead last year's team in 7 statistical categories, including digs, points, kills, and service aces.
Coach Rodrigues is pleased with what she has seen so far from the team. "As a staff, we are very pleased with what we are seeing from this team. The recruitment class has shown to be a great balance with our returners, and we are confident this balance is the recipe to get the Eagles program back on track to be successful within the NEAC conference."
CSE opens it's season on September 2 when they host Rutgers-Newark out of the NJAC conference at 7 pm.
