Eagles Soar To Doubleheader Sweep of Cazenovia

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – The College of Saint Elizabeth's softball team (18-6, 7-1 NEAC) erased a four-run first inning deficit to win in walk off fashion in game one, 5-4 and took game two, 4-0 for its fifth straight win.

In the top of the first of game one, the Wildcats struck for four runs to take an early 4-0 lead.  In the bottom of the inning, Teya Carr smashed a RBI double to get the Eagles on the board.

In the bottom of the second, Sierra Dunn knocked home Neckolette Nedwell on a single to get the Eagles within two.

The score remained the same until the bottom of the fifth when Brittany Demarest lined a RBI single to center, cutting the deficit to one.  With the bases loaded and two outs, Dunn drew a bases loaded walk to tie the game at four.

Tied in the bottom of the seventh, Karyn Shimazu led off with a single and advanced to second later in the inning.  With two outs, Neckolette Nedwell lined a single to center, scoring Shimazu and giving the Eagles the 5-4 win.

Laura Costello picked up her sixth win of the season, striking out six in the complete game win.

After scoreless first three innings, the Eagles struck in the bottom of the fourth as Kathryn Harrigan singled to center to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.  Demarest, the next batter, lined a run scoring single of her own to up the lead to 2-0.

Following a sac fly by Carr in the fifth, Jontae Patton lined a RBI single to center, giving CSE a four-run advantage.

After a scoreless sixth inning, Alyssa Vega sent the Wildcats down 1-2-3 to finish off the complete game.

Vega's gem on the mound earned her her team leading seventh win of the season.  Vega surrendered just four hits on the day.

CSE returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Cedar Crest College for a non conference doubleheader beginning at 3 pm.
