MORRISTOWN, N.J. – The College of Saint Elizabeth's softball team (24-12, 11-7 NEAC) fell in a conference doubleheader to Penn State Berks, 8-0in five innings and 8-0 in six innings on Thursday afternoon.
After Berks scored the first run in the top of the second, the Eagles limited the damage thanks to Ashley VonHorn throwing out the runner at home from center field to keep the deficit at one.
Berks added seven runs in the top of the fourth to open up an 8-0 lead.
CSE could not manage to plate any runs over the final two innings, dropping game one, 8-0.
Jontae Patton finished with two hits in the game.
The Nittany Lions put across two runs in the top of the first in game two to take an early 2-0 lead. Berks added three more in the third to open up a 5-0 lead.
In the bottom of the fourth, Karyn Shimazu lined a single to center, the first hit of the game for the Eagles.
Berks managed to add two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to take game two, 8-0.
CSE returns to action for the final regular season doubleheader of the season when it hosts Penn College on Saturday at 1 pm.
