AURORA, N.Y. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's softball team (21-7, 9-1 NEAC) rolled past Wells College, 4-0 and 11-2 to on Saturday afternoon.
CSE got on the board first in game one as
Kathryn Harrigan lined a RBI single in the top of the first to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Â CSE was held scoreless until the sixth when
Marielis Alicea and
Neckolette Nedwell drove in a run each to up the lead to three. Â Alicea added a RBI single in the seventh to give the Eagles the 4-0 win.
On the mound,
Alyssa Hampton had the best start of the season, pitching a complete game, two-hit shutout while striking out a career high nine batters.
After falling behind 1-0 in game two, the Eagles answered with six runs in the third inning with run scoring hits by
Brittany Demarest,
Kim VanSavage and
Jennifer Tinger.
In the fourth,
Karyn Shimazu belted a solo homer to left, her second of the season to up the lead to 7-1. Â CSE added three more in the fifth to take the game, 10-2 in five innings.
Alyssa Vega picked up her eigth win of the season on the mound, giving up one run in four innings.
The 21 wins are a school record and 9-1 in the conference is the best 10-game start in program history.
CSE returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Wilson College at 3 pm.
