Eagles Beat Wilson 9-0, Split on Day

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – The College of Saint Elizabeth's softball team (22-8, 9-1 NEAC) fell in game one to Wilson, 8-1 before downing the Phoenix 9-0 in five innings in game two.

 

CSE plated the first run of the game in the bottom of the second off an unearned run to take a 1-0 lead.

 

Wilson answered back in the top of the third with three runs to take a 3-1 lead.  The Phoenix added three more runs in the fourth and two in the fifth to take the game, 8-1.

 

In the bottom of the second of game two, with two on and two outs, Sierra Dunn lined a two-run single to center, giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead. 

 

CSE's offense continued to play well in the second as Rachael Romer and Teya Carr had RBI singles to up the lead to 4-0.  Later in the inning, Jontae Patton produced a run scoring groundout to give the Eagles a 6-0 lead after two innings of play.

 

In the bottom of the fourth, Patton lined a single to up the lead to seven.  Two batters later, Neckolette Nedwell smashed a two-run triple to right field, blowing the game open at 9-0.

 

In the top of the fifth, Laura Costello sent the Phoenix down without a run to give the Eagles the 9-0 win in five innings.  Costello earned her seventh win of the season on the mound and her second shutout.

 

Jennifer TInger and Romer finished with two hits each in game two.  Dunn added a hit and three RBI's in the win.

 

CSE returns to action on Thursday when it travels to Keuka College for a 3 pm start.
