WASHINGTON, D.C. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's softball team (13-5, 3-1 NEAC) used 16 first inning runs in route to a sweep at Gallaudet University 12-3 and 14-2 on Sunday afternoon.
CSE's offense went wild in the first inning, scoring 11 runs.

Ashley VonHorn,
Jontae Patton,
Karyn Shimazu and
Teya Carr all had run scoring hits in the inning. CSE finished with eight hits in the inning.
The Bison scored three runs over the next four innings but the Eagles added a run in the fifth, taking game one, 12-3 in five innings.
Alyssa Vega notched her fifth win of the season on the mound. Patton finished the game 4-4 with three runs scored while Carr added three hits and a RBI.
The Eagles came hot out of the gate again in game two, scoring five more runs in the first inning. Patton and
Rachael Romer had run scoring hits in the inning.
In the top of the second, Carr had a RBI single which was later followed by a RBI double by
Brittany Demarest, giving the Eagles a 7-0 lead.
Leading 9-2 in the fifth, CSE plated five additional runs to blow the game wide open at 14-2. In the bottom of the inning,
Alyssa Hampton retired the side in order, giving the Eagles its third straight win.
Laura Costello picked up her fourth win of the season, striking out three in four innings. Romer finished 3-3 with three RBI's while VonHorn, Patton and
Marielis Alicea each had two hits.
CSE returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Cairn University at 3 pm.
