2015-16 Women's Basketball Preview

Morristown, N.J. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's basketball team will be hosting a scrimmage on Saturday against Stockton College in preparation for the start of the 2015-16 season.

The Eagles are coming off a 13-12 record including an 11-9 mark in the NEAC. CSE finished just outside the last playoff spot last season. The Eagles will look to build on last season as they return a lot of key players including leading scorer and Second Team All-Conference Ashley Pledger, seniors Amerisse Rogers and Sharolin Sanders, and junior Danesha Triplett. CSE will also be returning Ashley Morera and Patricia Dennis.

CSE will have a lot of new faces this season, led by first year head coach Nicole "Colie" Trawick. Trawick was hired in October to take over for Nicole Degenhardt, who coached the Eagles for the past five seasons. Lisa DiTuro will be returning for her second season as an assistant coach while Nadja Conner will begin her first year as an assistant coach.

The Eagles brought in eight new student-athletes for the upcoming season. Jasmine Poole, a junior transfer from Burlington Community College, was named Burlington County College Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference last season. Poole, along with newcomers Deja Ingram, Damaris King, LaChe Robinson, Taylor Foxworth, MaryJane Gutierrez, and Ta-Tionnah Curtis will look to contribute valuable minutes to the Eagles this season.

Coach Trawick has really liked what she has seen so far from the team. "There has been strong emphasis on taking things one day at a time, but as a whole, we are extremely excited for the scrimmage. We are looking forward to putting all the pieces together and executing on the new system introduced this season." She continued emphasizing the positivies around new culture that she is building. "As far as practice, we've had more good days than bad. A testament to our ladies full commitment to the preseason, pushing down old boundaries and putting in the extra effort to "buyin" (Team motto for this season). Everyone who comes to the game will feel the new positive energy this team possesses."

CSE opens their regular season at the Roadrunner Tip Off hosted by Ramapo College on Friday, November 20th when they take on Old Westbury at 5:30 pm. The Eagles will then take on either Ramapo or Penn State Harrisburg the following day. The Eagles open their conference play as well as their home opener on December 5th, when they host Gallaudet University at 2 pm. The following day they host Wilson College at 1 pm.

Following two more games before Christmas break, CSE returns to action December 29th and 30th when they travel to the Bronx to take part in the 8th Annual CUNY Coaches vs. Cancer Classic hosted by Lehman College. The Eagles will take on Lehman on the 29th at 12 pm and then play either FDU-Florham or The College of New Jersey the following day.

The Eagles continue their slate in January with a slew of conference games, starting with Penn State Berks, Wilson College, and Gallaudet University. After playing two more conference games against Bryn Athyn and Penn College, CSE will host reigning NEAC Champions Penn State Abington on January 19th at 1 pm.

The first weekend in February, the Eagles will make their only road trip of the season to upstate New York, taking on Cazenovia College on Saturday the 6th, followed by a road contest at Morrisville State College on Super Bowl Sunday. The Eagles return home the following weekend for their final home stand of the season when they host Keuka College and Wells College. The Eagles conclude the regular season when they travel to Penn State Abington on February 20th for a 1 pm tip off.
