MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (March 5, 2026) – The St. Elizabeth University baseball team competed in a doubleheader against Eastern on Thursday in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, falling in both contests despite a late push in game one.
Game 1 – Eastern 10, St. Elizabeth 4
Eastern opened the doubleheader with a 10–4 victory after building an early lead. The Eagles trailed 5–0 after two innings and Eastern extended the advantage with three more runs in the fifth inning.
St. Elizabeth got on the scoreboard in the fifth when Trevor Policastro singled to right field, driving in Curtis Battle.
The Eagles made their biggest push in the seventh inning. With two runners on base, Mark Nesler Jr. launched a three-run home run to left field, scoring Harrison Curran and Trevor Policastro to trim the deficit.
St. Elizabeth recorded seven hits in the game. Battle led the offense with two hits and a run scored, while Nesler Jr. finished with three RBIs on his late homer.
On the mound, Stephen Crandall started for the Eagles, with John Santomassino and Alipio Figueroa appearing in relief.
Game 2 – Eastern 9, St. Elizabeth 0
In the second game of the doubleheader, Eastern completed the sweep with a 9–0 victory. The Eagles fell behind early as Eastern scored two runs in the first inning and four in the second to take control of the game.
St. Elizabeth finished the game with three hits, coming from Curtis Battle, Sam Porch Jr., and Chris Povemba.
Nic Disciascio took the start for St. Elizabeth, while Aidan Folsom, Malcolm Solomon, and Geoffrey Laliberte Jr. worked in relief. Folsom turned in a strong outing, striking out five batters in 2.2 innings.
Defensively, Owen Murphy recorded eight putouts behind the plate for the Eagles.
