MADISON, N.J. — The Saint Elizabeth University track & field teams opened the 2026 outdoor season on Sunday at the Battle of Madison Ave, turning in several strong performances on both the men's and women's sides at FDU-Florham.
The Eagle women placed fourth in the team standings with 11 points, while the men finished fourth with 15 points.
The women were paced by a pair of runner-up finishes, beginning in the 4x100-meter relay, where the quartet of Jessica Felix, Talissa Sakar, Cadera Harell and Awa Doumbia crossed in 58.71 to take second. Doumbia also posted a second-place finish in the long jump, recording a mark of 4.44 meters (14-7) to give the Eagles another strong result in the field.
In individual action on the track, Chelsea Sarmiento delivered a point-scoring finish in the 400 meters, placing fourth in 1:15.01. St. Elizabeth also added a third-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay, as Talissa Sakar, Cadera Harell, Chelsea Sarmiento and Libni Gijon combined for another podium performance.
Doumbia added another top finish in the 100 meters, placing fifth overall, while Sarmiento led the Eagles in the 800 meters to round out the women's top performances on the day.
On the men's side, Sayfullah Carter led the way with a third-place finish in the 100 meters, clocking 11.61 to score for the Eagles. Carter also turned in the team's top performance in the 200 meters, placing sixth overall.
The Eagles also saw solid performances from both relay teams. In the 4x100-meter relay, the group of Josh Ford, Jordan Lomax, Tye-rell Monroe and Sayfullah Carter placed third. In the 4x400-meter relay, Raoul Bouzi, Josh Ford, Eliezer Cortes and Cam'ron Martel finished fifth.
