St. Elizabeth University Softball Sweeps Doubleheader Against NJCU

MORRISTOWN, N.J. — The St. Elizabeth University softball team put together a strong day at the plate and in the circle on Friday afternoon, sweeping a doubleheader against New Jersey City University in Morristown. The Eagles opened the day with an 8-0 shutout victory in six innings before completing the sweep with a 12-5 win in game two, improving to 9-7 overall on the season.

Game One: St. Elizabeth 8, New Jersey City 0 (6 innings)

The Eagles set the tone early in the opener, scoring two runs in the first inning and three more in the second on the way to an 8-0 win.

Kami DeGaetani was dominant in the circle, throwing a complete-game shutout over six innings while allowing just four hits and striking out one to improve to 5-1 on the season.

At the plate, Isabella Hanos turned in a standout performance, going 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs scored, a double, and a triple. Hanos drove in runs in four different innings and sparked the Eagles' offense from the leadoff spot.

Isabell Edwards added a 2-for-3 effort with an RBI and a run scored, while Josilynn Garcia finished 1-for-2 with a double, an RBI, and a walk. Grace Bobbie and Savannah Vanwinkle each recorded two hits, and the Eagles totaled 11 hits in the six-inning victory.

Game Two: St. Elizabeth 12, New Jersey City 5

After New Jersey City jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, St. Elizabeth responded in emphatic fashion. The Eagles exploded for nine runs in the second inning and added three more in the third to take control and secure the sweep with a 12-5 victory.

Jazmin Frias earned the win in the circle, pitching all seven innings while allowing six hits and five runs—just three earned—with five strikeouts to improve to 3-1 on the year.

The Eagles' offense continued to roll in game two, led by Mia Testa, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Romie Kalupy finished 2-for-4 with two RBI, two runs scored, and two stolen bases, while Isabella Hanos stayed hot with two hits and two RBI.

Josilynn Garcia added a two-run home run in the third inning, and Isabell Edwards, Julia Stewart, and Savannah Vanwinkle each drove in a run as St. Elizabeth piled up 12 runs on 10 hits.

Doubleheader Notes

St. Elizabeth outscored New Jersey City 20-5 across the two games, combining for 21 hits while getting complete-game efforts from both pitchers. Hanos led the way offensively throughout the day, collecting six hits and six RBI in the doubleheader.
