Eagles’ Fast Start Fades in Road Loss at Centenary

Hackettstown, N.J. – The Saint Elizabeth University women's basketball team opened Wednesday night with a strong offensive performance but could not maintain momentum in the second half, falling 77–64 at Centenary University in conference action.

The Eagles came out firing in the first quarter, shooting 63.2 percent from the field and knocking down three triples to take a 28–18 lead after ten minutes of play. Yasminah White and Ahjionae Cobb led the early charge as Saint Elizabeth built a lead that grew to as many as 16 points in the second quarter.

Saint Elizabeth entered halftime ahead 41–38, but Centenary seized control in the third quarter behind a dominant inside performance. The Cyclones outscored the Eagles 22–11 in the period to take a 60–52 advantage into the final frame.

Cobb paced the Eagles with 22 points, while White added 20. Elyssa Russo contributed 14 points off the bench. Saint Elizabeth forced 15 turnovers but was out-rebounded 48–35 and allowed 24 second-chance points, which proved to be a decisive factor.
