Eagles Battle Late but Fall to Centenary, 90–85

Morristown, N.J. – January 28, 2026 — The Saint Elizabeth University men's basketball team delivered a spirited performance Wednesday night but came up just short, falling 90–85 to Centenary (NJ) in a hard-fought conference contest at Saint Joseph Gym.

The Eagles showed strong offensive rhythm throughout the night and matched Centenary basket-for-basket for long stretches. Saint Elizabeth trailed by five at halftime, 45–40, before mounting several second-half pushes to keep the game within reach down the final minutes.

Offensive Leaders

Junior Josiah King led the Eagles with 23 points, finishing efficiently around the basket and in transition. Tye-Rell Monroe added 20 points, attacking the paint and providing steady scoring throughout both halves. Johnathan Quiles contributed 16 points, including key buckets and free throws during the late comeback attempt.

Inside Presence

Saint Elizabeth competed well inside, but Centenary's Jasir Lane proved difficult to contain, recording 19 points and 20 rebounds, creating multiple second-chance opportunities for the visitors. Centenary also received a standout performance from Devin Strickland, who scored a game-high 25 points to help seal the win late.

Up Next for Saint Elizabeth

The Eagles will return to action on Saturday, January 31st, as they head to Arlington, VA, to face Marymount University with tip off scheduled for 4:00PM.
