FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – Saint Elizabeth University (9-8, 3-3 AEC) earned a key Atlantic East Conference victory on Saturday, over Gwynedd Mercy (5-12, 2-4 AEC) by a 66-63 final.
The Eagles controlled much of the contest, but the Griffins stayed within striking distance throughout and briefly took the lead multiple times down the stretch. Saint Elizabeth responded each time, making the necessary plays late to secure the win.
Mya Davis led three Eagles in double figures with 19 points, shooting an efficient 44% from beyond the arc while adding six rebounds and two assists. Ahjionae Cobb contributed 17 points and nine rebounds before fouling out with 3:35 remaining. Elyssa Russo also notched 14 points, six rebounds and four assists. Despite a tough shooting night, Yasminah White directed the offense effectively, finishing with seven assists and nine rebounds.
Defensively, Saint Elizabeth was dominant on the perimeter, limiting Gwynedd Mercy to just 16% shooting from three-point range.
