Morristown, N.J. (Jan. 10, 2026) – The Saint Elizabeth University men's basketball team delivered a strong second-half surge but came up just short in a 78–73 loss to Neumann University Saturday afternoon at Saint Joseph Gym.
Neumann opened the contest with an efficient offensive first half, shooting 63 percent from the floor to take a 43–34 advantage into the break. The Eagles regrouped after halftime, outscoring the Knights 39–35 in the second half and pulling within one possession multiple times in the final minutes.
Tye-Rell Monroe led Saint Elizabeth with 22 points, knocking down key perimeter shots and attacking the basket throughout the game. Johnathan Quiles added 17 points, while Josiah King provided a spark off the bench with 14 points in the paint. Cam'Ron Martel contributed on both ends of the floor, finishing with 8 points and 7 rebounds.
Saint Elizabeth showed its best stretch midway through the second half, tying the game at 54–54 and later taking a brief lead in the final minute. Neumann's Donte Dupriest, who finished with a game-high 33 points, sealed the outcome at the free-throw line in the closing seconds.
As a team, the Eagles shot 39 percent from the field and forced Neumann into stretches of pressure defense, generating 14 fast-break points. Turnovers, however, proved decisive, as Neumann capitalized on 19 Saint Elizabeth miscues.
