Eagles Take Four Set Victory Against Bard

Annandale-on-Hudson, NY- The Saint Elizabeth University Women's Volleyball team traveled up to Bard College for their match on Tuesday, September 23rd.

Match Results
  • Thanks to the strength of a 9-1 run in the beginning of the match, Saint Elizabeth was able to capture the first set, 25-15, and give themselves a quick 1-0 match lead.
  • Set two would be a little bit more of the same, as thanks to a two separate runs for Bard, a 5-0 run at the beginning of the set, and a 4-0 run mid way through, Bard was able to take a close set two 25-21, evening up the match a set a piece.
  • Set three was back and fourth throughout, as both teams would match each other's performances on each side. However a late 3-0 run for the Eagles, late proved to be difference as they took the third set, 25-21, and now having a 2-1 match lead heading into the final set.
  • Set four was once again back and fourth early for both teams. However, the difference came midway through, as Saint Elizabeth would go on a 7-1 run to pull ahead of Bard, before sealing the deal with a 4-1 run, to give them a 25-18 set four victory, and a 3-1 match victory.
Key Performers
  • Dadlyna Louis would have a night as not only would she pick up a double-double, she was also able to lead the team in both points and service aces. Louis would finish the night with 17.5 points, off the strength of ten kills, and seven service aces. She was also able to pick up four digs and a block assist on the defensive side of the net.
  • Sienna Volpe would be second in points, however would lead the Eagles in kills on the night. Picking up a double-double, Volpe was able to gain 12 points, off of 11 kills, and a service ace. Volpe was able to contribute in other aspects of the game, picking up two assists, as well as eight digs defensively.
  • Marissa Jean Baptiste would round out the double digit scorers for the Eagles, as she would earn 10.5 points, while getting seven kills, five block assists, and one solo block on the night.
Up Next for The Eagles

The Eagles will return to action on Thursday, September 25th, as they will head to Jersey City, NJ, to face NJCU to wrap up their six game road trip. Game time for the match is scheduled to begin at 7:00PM.
