The Saint Elizabeth Men's Volleyball team opened its 2024 season this weekend with two exciting matches against in-state opponents. New Head Coach
Dan Crespo led the Eagles against Drew University on Friday and Rutgers University Newark on Saturday. Although the new-look Eagles would drop both matches there were certainly some positive performances to be proud of.
On Friday, Saint Elizabeth made the short drive down Madison Ave to take on rival Drew University. Graduate student
Kodi Peters led the Eagles with 6 kills. JuniorÂ
Diego Rondon contributed 10 assists. Sophomore
Kyzier Kelly was able to beat the Ranger defense with 2 aces on the night. Freshman
Eusebio Veras made his Eagles debut and looked promising recording 1 block.
Jerry Chably led the Eagles with a team-high 5 digs.
On Saturday, the Eagles made their home debut against the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers University Newark.
Kodi Peters led the Eagles in attacking with 9 kills.
Kennedy Ibezim and
Eusebio Veras also contributed with 6 kills and 5 kills respectively.
Diego Rondon doubled his assist total from the last match and finished with 20 assists to go along with 5 digs.
Jerry Chably was able to record 6 digs on the night.Â
The Eagles next match will be held on Wednesday January 24th at home versus Bryn Athyn College. This match will be counted as a non-conference contest with a start time of 7pm in Saint Joseph Hall.
