The Saint Elizabeth University women's basketball team bounced back today stopping a Penn College comeback effort to a 43-38 win. It was the Eagles' second game of the Susquehanna Tip-Off Tournament. The Eagles improve to 4-1 while the Wildcats dropped to 1-4.
The Eagles jumped out early in the first half, outscoring the Wildcats 13-7 in the first quarter and 12-4 in the second quarter. However, Penn College made some halftime adjustments to outscore Saint Elizabeth 15-7 in the third quarter to make the score 32-26. The Wildcats pulled within as close as 2 points but the Eagles hit clutch free throws down the stretch to secure their fourth victory of the season.
Destiny Battle was the leading scorer for the Eagles with 13 points.
Laila Kendle and
Aryanna Baytops were both big factors in the rebounding department, securing 14 rebounds each.
Yasminah White was active on the defensive end, registering 4 steals on the night. The Eagles out-rebounded the Wildcats by 22 rebounds which was critical to the outcome of the game.
The Eagles will play their next game on Tuesday November 28th against conference opponent Keystone College. Tip-off will be at 6pm at Gamball Athletic Center in La Plume, PA.
