The Saint Elizabeth Women's Basketball team took their talents to New York this afternoon to take on the Lightning of Lehman College in the Bronx. The Eagles improved to a 2-0 record while the Lightning have started the season 0-3.
Trailing 69-63 with 1:20 remaining in the fourth quarter, Lehman went on a 4-0 run to cut the Saint Elizabeth advantage to just a single basket (69-67) with 52 seconds left in the game. After the Eagles made one of two free-throws for a three-point lead with seven seconds left, an Eagles steal was able to end the possible comeback for the hosts.
Destiny Battle led the Eagles in scoring with 25 points. She also registered 8 assists, 7 rebounds and 7 steals including the steal to seal the win.
Aryanna Baytops continued her domination on the glass with 20 rebounds to go along with 13 points. Freshman
Mya Davis also starred with her best game in her young Eagles career. Davis scored 16 points including 5 three pointers.
The Eagles' next game will take place on Tuesday November 14th at 6pm. Saint Elizabeth will take on New Jersey rival Rutgers-Camden at Saint Joseph Hall.
