VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) is proud to announce its 2022 Women's Tennis End of Year awards. The awards include All-CSAC (First-Team, Second-Team, Honorable Mention and All-Sportsmanship) as well as Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and the 3-D Award.
The student-athletes were nominated by their coaches, and voted upon by the conference's seven head coaches who were not permitted to vote for their own players.
Player of the Year went to Cairn University junior
Paige Kemper (Lancaster, Pa./Garden Spot). Kemper won the award for the second straight season, capturing the honor in 2021 while sharing it with Rosemont's Chase Leonard.
This year, she went 14-2 overall with a 5-0 mark in CSAC play. She went 14-2 at number one flight singles, winning her last nine matches. She was a first-team All-CSAC selection.
Rookie of the Year went to Bryn Athyn College freshman
Anais Connelly (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Academy of the New Church). A second-team All-CSAC selection, she went 5-4 overall and 4-1 in CSAC play, sporting a 3-1 record at number three flight.
Coach of the Year was shared by Cairn University's
Kevin Jackson and Cedar Crest College's
Dr. Allen Snook, Jr.. Jackson led the Highlanders to an 18-1 mark and a perfect 6-0 record in CSAC play. Snook guided the Falcons to a 7-5 record and a 5-1 record in CSAC play. The Highlanders are the top seed in the CSAC playoffs, while the Falcons are the second seed in the upcoming tournament.
The 3-D Award went to Bryn Athyn College. Implemented for the 2011-12 academic year, the Colonial States Athletic Conference 3D Award replaced the CSAC Team Sportsmanship Award. The 3D Award recognizes the teams in each sport that best demonstrate the NCAA Division-III philosophy of "Discover, Develop, Dedicate." The 3D Award was conceived and developed by the CSAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). This is the first time the Lions have won the award in women's tennis.
