Brooklyn, N.Y. — The College of Saint Elizabeth picked up its second sweep in as many days with a 3-0 victory at Medgar Evers on Saturday morning. Set scores were 25-12, 25-12, and 25-13. The Eagles swept St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) Friday night.
The first game was close with a score of 11-9 until the Eagles went on an 8-0 run to make it 19-9. In game two, Saint Elizabeth led comfortably for most of the match as it got the score up to 8-3, and led by more than five for the rest of the match. Game three was closer as the score was 11-8 before the Eagles went on multiple three and four-point runs to hold the lead and complete the sweep.
Senior Yas Muhammad (Newark, N.J.) led CSE with 11 kills, while also contributing six aces and two digs. Senior
Stephanie Mitarotonda (East Rutherford, N.J.) was also a big factor for Saint Elizabeth with eight aces and three digs. Junior
Maura Farley (Iselin, N.J.) had six kills and 11 assists, while sophomore
Alizea Amaral (Newark, N.J.) had 12 assists of her own.
Next on the schedule for the Eagles is Rutgers-Newark. The match will be home in Saint Joseph Hall on Tuesday, Sep. 10. at 7 p.m.
