MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's women's basketball team (14-7, 12-4 NEAC) rallied from 19 down in the first half to defeat Penn State Berks on Senior Day, 87-83 on Saturday afternoon.
In her final regular season game,
Deja Ingram led the way with 22 points, nine rebounds and four blocks.Â
Maria DeVincenzo added 20 points and six assists while
Kamille Jacobs finished with 14 points.
The Nittany Lions took control in the first half, leading by as much as 19. In the second quarter, the Eagles used a 17-2 run to get within three. To end the first half, Jacobs made a driving layup to get the Eagles with 40-37 at the break.
After trailing by as many as nine in the third quarter, the Eagles stormed back to take a 57-56 lead with 2:45 remaining, its first of the game. Berks outscored the Eagles by one over the remainder of the quarter as the game was tied at 63 heading to the final quarter.
With 6:44 remaining in the contest, the Eagles used a 5-0 run to take a 75-68 lead, it largest of the game. Berks rallied to get within two with under two minutes remaining, however the Eagles knocked down clutch free throws to end the game, holding on for a four-point win.Â
Before the game,
Damaris King and Ingram were honored as part of Senior Day.
The Eagles finish the regular season with a 12-4 mark in the NEAC, the best in program history.
On Tuesday, CSE hosts Penn State Abington in the first round of the NEAC Playoffs at 7 pm. This will mark the first time the Eagles have a home playoff game since joining the NEAC.
