MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's men's basketball team (13-11, 8-8 NEAC) defeated Penn State Berks 90-77 to earn its first ever trip to the NEAC Postseason on Saturday afternoon.
Lance Rhoden led the Eagles with a career game, finishing with 28 points on 7-12 from beyond the arc.Â
Roland Romano added 20 points and eight rebounds while
Ted Thelemaque finished with 16 points and four rebounds.
Eight minutes into the game, the Nittany Lions extended its lead to 21-13. Over the next five minutes, the Eagles used a 17-3 run to take a 30-24 advantage. Berks fought its way back to the the game at 39, but the Eagles scored 7 of the final 11 points to take a 46-43 lead into halftime.
CSE pushed its lead to 58-48 at the 14:50 mark, its largest of the contest. Throughout the net 5:30 minutes, CSE outscored the Nittany Lions by three to take a 13-point lead. Over the final nine minutes, CSE would maintain a double-digit lead and lead by as many as 17 before taking the contest, 90-77.
The 13 wins are the most wins in the first three years in program history. With the win, CSEÂ clinched the 3rd seed in the South Division in the NEAC Postseason Tournament.
CSE will head to Penn State Abington on Tuesday at 7 pm in the first round of the NEAC Playoffs.
