Abington, P.A. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's women's basketball team (13-7, 11-4 NEAC) clinched its first ever home playoff game with a 65-54 victory at Penn State Abington on Thursday evening.
Deja Ingram finished with a game high 21 points and eight rebounds. Â Off the bench,
Kamani Williams added 10 points and 12 rebounds while
Rakiyah Sellers chipped in with 10 points.
After falling behind 8-2 early in the first quarter, the Eagles used a 10-0 run to take a 12-8 lead. Â CSE's defense held Abington scoreless over a 7:24 stretch as the Eagles took a 14-12 lead into the second period.
The Eagles continued to build its leading in the second quarter, growing it to as much as eight. Â Both teams went back and forth over the final six minutes as the Eagles took a 29-22 advantage into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Eagles continued its stellar play, outscoring Abington by seven halfway through the quarter to take a 44-30 lead, its largest of the game.  Despite Abington getting to within eight, CSE took a 10-point lead into the final quarter.
Two minutes into the final quarter, the Nittany Lions cut the lead to five, the closest its been since the second quarter. Â Over the next two minutes, the Eagles scored the next four points to regain a 54-45 lead. Â Over the final five minutes, CSE would not let Abington get closer than seven, before taking the game by 11.
With the win, the Eagles clinched a home playoff game on Tuesday. Â It will host Penn State Abington with the time TBD.
CSE returns to action for Senior Day on Saturday when it hosts Penn State Berks at 12 pm.
