Rosemont, Pa. – The College of Saint Elizabeth women's basketball moved to 4-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference with a 78-68 victory over defending conference champion Rosemont on Monday afternoon. The host Ravens had won 18 consecutive CSAC games, and were picked second in the preseason coaches' poll.
Sophomore guard
Maria DeVincenzo (Tampa, Fla./Life Center Academy) had a team-high 21 points in addition to seven rebounds, five steals and four assists. Junior forward
Kamani Williams (Middletown, N.J./Middletown North) registered her fourth double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 boards.
Although the Eagles (7-3, 4-0 CSAC) were outshot in the game, 48.2 percent to 37.8 percent, they forced an incredible 30 Rosemont (3-5, 1-1 CSAC) turnovers to take control of the game. Saint Elizabeth jumped out to a 22-16 lead after the first quarter, led 50-36 at the break, and never allowed Rosemont to get within arm's reach of the lead in the second half.
Looking ahead, Saint Elizabeth hosts Cairn on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 5 p.m. inside Saint Joseph's Hall.
