CSE Opens 2019-20 With Blowout Win Over Berkeley

Morristown, N.J. – The College of Saint Elizabeth women's basketball team opened the 2019-20 campaign with a convincing 74-57 victory over Berkeley in a non-conference game inside St. Joseph's Hall on Friday night.

The Eagles (1-0) used a 17-4 run in the first quarter to take a 19-10 lead after the opening 10 minutes thanks to a pair of three pointers from senior guard Dianne Nieves (Hoboken, N.J./Hoboken).

Saint Elizabeth forced 22 turnovers in the first half alone to push the lead to 39-21 at the break. In the second half, foul trouble limited the Knights (0-1), as the Eagles kept them at arm's length for the remainder of the contest.

Senior guard Kamille Jacobs (Hillside, N.J./Roselle Catholic) scored a team-high 22 points, and totaled seven rebounds and three assists. Senior guard Rakiyah Sellers added 15 points, three assists and six steals.

Up next, the Eagles host New Jersey City University on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. All CSE students are encouraged to attend, as the college celebrates "One Team" night, and students are eligible to win a raffle for a big screen television.
