Kamani Williams (Middletown, N.J./Middletown North) had seven points and 17 rebounds on Wednesday night, but the College of Saint Elizabeth women's basketball team could not keep pace with visiting New Jersey City, ultimately falling 72-48 in a non-conference game held inside Saint Joseph's Hall.
The Eagles (1-1) were tied with the Gothic Knights (1-0) at 43-43 heading into the final period, but NJCU shot 11-for-22 (50.0 percent) from the field and 4-for-9 (44.4 percent) from three-point range in the fourth quarter to take control of the game.
Senior guard
Rakiyah Sellers (Newark, N.J./Newark Arts) finished with a team-high 14 points and added three steals. Senior forward
Kamille Jacobs (Hillside, N.J./Roselle Catholic) filled the box score with nine points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Looking ahead, Saint Elizabeth hosts RPI on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. before hosting Cheyney on Monday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. Both non-conference matchups are at home.
