Selinsgrove, Pa. – Senior guard
Rakiyah Sellers (Newark, N.J./Newark Arts) scored a season-high 20 points as the College of Saint Elizabeth women's basketball team defeated Penn College, 64-53, in the opening round of the Susquehanna Tournament on Saturday night. The Eagles (3-2) advance to the championship game against host Susquehanna on Sunday at 3 p.m.
Sellers shot 8-for-15 from the floor and 4-for-7 from three-point range. Senior
Kamille Jacobs (Hillside, N.J./Roselle Catholic) had 13 points, four rebounds and two steals while shooting 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
The Eagles led by three at halftime and by one after the third quarter. However, Saint Elizabeth used an 18-4 run late in the fourth quarter to take control of the contest. In the fourth quarter alone, CSE outscored Penn (0-3), 21-11.
Sophomore guard
Maria DeVincenzo (Tampa, Fla./Life Center Academy) filled the box score with 11 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and a career-high nine steals. Junior forward
Kamani Williams (Middletown, N.J./Middletown North) totaled 10 points and eight boards.
Up next, Saint Elizabeth takes on tournament host Susquehanna for the championship on Sunday at 3 p.m.
