LANCASTER, P.A. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's softball team (10-8, 4-0 NEAC) ran its win streak to four with a conference sweep of Lancaster Bible, 9-1 and 7-4 on Friday afternoon.
The Eagles got on the board first in game one as
Teya Carr lined a RBI single to shortstop to take a 1-0 lead. Â In the top of the third, with the bases loaded,Â
Neckolette Nedwell smashed a bases clearing triple to right, opening up a 4-0 lead for CSE.
The Chargers scored its first run of the game in the bottom of the third to get within 4-1.  Both teams were held scoreless over the next two innings, however, the Eagles blew the game open in the top of the seventh.  Nedwell lined a two-run double, which was followed by a two-run double by
Brittany Demarest. Â The Eagles would tack on another run in the inning while holding Lancastser scoreless in the bottom half to take the game, 9-1.
Alyssa Hampton pitched her second straight complete game, giving up six hits and one run while striking out three to earn her fifth win of the season. Â At the dish, Hampton finished 3-4 while Nedwell had two hits and five RBI's.
In game two, the Chargers scored three runs in the bottom of the first to take a 3-0 lead.  The Eagles platted a run in the top of the second, and followed it with two runs in the top of the third behind RBI hots from
Ashley VonHorn and Demarest to tie the game at three.
Despite the Chargers regaining a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the inning, the Eagles came right back in the top of the fourth, scoring two runs to take its first lead of the game at 5-4. Â In the top of the fifth,
Genesis Sanchez lined a two-run single to give the Eagles a 7-4 lead. Â
Over the final three innings,
Alyssa Vega held the Chargers scoreless to preserve the 7-4 win.   Vega earned her third win of the season on the mound, giving up four hits and just one run while striking out three over 6.2 innings of relief.  VonHorn, Demarest, and Carr all finished with two hits a piece in game two.
CSE returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Gallaudet University for a 12:30 pm first pitch.Â
