MARCY. N.Y. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's men's basketball team (6-13, 2-9 NEAC) dropped a cross-divisional conference game to NEAC North leading SUNY Poly, 76-67 on Saturday afternoon.
Jason Saldiveri paced the Eagles with 17 points, six rebounds, and three steals.Â
Shaquan Mickens finished with a season high 13 points and five rebounds while
Cam Tucker added 10 points.
The first half was evenly matched until the Wildcats used a 6-0 run to take an 18-11 lead at the 14:09 mark. CSE trimmed the lead to four with five minutes remaining, however SUNY Poly took its first double-digit lead with two minutes to go, and took a 44-36 lead into halftime.
The Wildcats opened the second half on an 8-0 run to take its largest lead of the game at 52-36. Trailing 56-42, the Eagles went on a stellar 14-0 run over the next four minutes to tie the game at 56. The next five minutes went back an forth with Poly taking a five point lead. over the remaining four minutes, the Eagles continued to battle, but could not get any closer than four, before dropping the game by nine.
CSE returns to action on Super Bowl Sunday when it travels to Cobleskill for a 12 pm start.
