MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's women's basketball team (8-16, 5-11 NEAC) defeated Wilson College in the season finale, 48-43 on Saturday afternoon.
Deja Ingram once again led the Eagles, finishing with 16 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks, her 16th double-double of the season. Kamile Jacobs added eight points and six rebounds while
Damaris King and
Kamani Williams finished with seven points each.
Both teams were sluggish in the first quarter, as each team scored six points, seven minutes into the game. Despite Wilson taking a 9-6 lead, CSE scored the final four points to take a 10-9 lead into the second quarter. With the game tied at 13, the Eagles ended the second quarter on a 6-2 run to take a 19-15 lead into halftime.
The second half saw the Eagles take its largest lead of the game at 28-21 with 4:44 to go in the quarter. Both teams traded buckets the remainder of the period as the Eagles took a 34-27 lead into the final ten minutes.
With 4:18 remaining in tge game, Jacobs made a driving layup to give the Eagles its largest lead of the game at 43-31. Wilson fought back, getting within three with 30 seconds to go. Jacobs knocked down four clutch free throws in the final 30 seconds as the Eagles hung on for the five-point victory.
Before the game, Ingram was honored for scoring her 1,000th career point on February 7th against Penn State Abington.
