Women's Basketball Falters vs Brandywine

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's women's basketball team (1-2, 0-0 NEAC) fell in a non-conference battle to Penn State Brandywine, 75-64 on Monday evening

CSE's defense came out strong in the first quarter, causing three turnovers in the first minute. Maria DeVincenzo lead the Eagles in the early going, knocking down two early three-pointers en route to an eight point quarter.  Kamille Jacobs buried a last second three-pointer to give the Eagles the 23-17 lead at the end of the first.

In the second quarter, Deja Ingram scored the first four points for the Eagles to open up its largest lead of the game at 27-19.  Despite the Nittany Lions slicing the deficit to four, the Eagles closed the half out strong, scoring six of the final eight points to take a 37-29 lead into the break. 

With 6:30 remaining in the third quarter, Jacobs converted on a highlight reel, reverse and-one, giving the Eagles a 42-33 lead.  After the Eagles opened up an 11-point lead, the Nittany Lions scored 11 of the next 12 points to get within 45-44.  Both teams plated even over the final three minutes as the Eagles held on to a 52-50 lead heading into the final ten minutes of action.

The Nittany Lions came out strong in the fourth quarter, scoring six of the first seven points to to take its first lead of the game.  CSE's offense struggled in the first eight minutes of the quarter as they were outscored 21-6.  The Eagles could not manage to inch any closer in the game, falling 75-64.

Ingram lead the way for the Eagles, finishing with 18 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks.  DeVincenzo added 15 points and five assists while Jacobs and Rakiyah Sellers finished with 10 points each.

CSE returns to action on November 28 when it hosts Penn College in its NEAC opener at 6 pm.
