MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's women's basketball team (5-10, 2-5 NEAC) earned its third win in four games, defeating Penn State Berks, 73-57 on Wednesday evening.
Rakiyah Sellers poured in a career high 25 points on 11-20 shooting from the floor. Â
Deja Ingram had a stellar game, finishing with 18 points, 17 rebounds, four steals and three blocks. Â
Kamille Jacobs pitched in with 12 points and five rebounds while
Damaris King added 10 points.
The Eagles came roaring out of the gate in the first five minutes of the game, running off a 16-0 run to open play. Â The Eagles would open up as much as a 17-point lead before taking a 24-10 advantage into the second quarter. Â Midway through the second quarter, Sellers made a layup under the basket to up the Eagles lead to 20. Â Both teams went back and fourth over the final five minutes as CSE took a 40-23 lead into halftime.
Over the final twenty minutes, the Eagles would not allow Berks to get closer than 13. Â Both teams played fairly even over the two quarters before the Eagles closed the game with a 16 point victory. Â The Eagles forced eight Nittany Lions turnovers and did not allow a three-pointer in the second half.
CSE returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Wilson College for a 3 pm tip.
