MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's women's basketball (3-9, 0-4 NEAC) rolled past the Warriors from Vaughn College, 58-38 on Thursday evening.
Junior
Deja Ingram lead the way for the Eagles, finishing with 14 points, 19 rebounds and two steals.Â
Damaris King added 14 points and six rebounds while
Rakiyah Sellers finished with 10 points.Â
Kamani Williams chipped in with eight points and 10 rebounds.
Despite the Eagles going scoreless over the first four minutes of the game, it used an 8-0 run to take an 8-2 lead with 1:28 remaining in the first quarter. Sellers ended the quarter with a layup to give CSE a 10-5 lead heading into the second period.
CSE scored the first 10 points of the second quarter to open a 20-5 lead. The Eagles continues to pour it on midway through the quarter, opening up its largest lead of the half at 29-10. Once again, Sellers closed out the half with a basket, sinking a corner three-pointer to give the Eagles a 36-15 halftime lead.
The Eagles opened the third quarter on a 7-0 run to up the lead to 42-15. Despite the Warriors outscoring the Eagles over the final seven minutes, CSE took a 48-28 lead into the final 10 minutes. The fourth quarter was played evenly by both teams as each scored 10 points, before the Eagles took the contest, 58-38.
CSE held Vaughn to just 22.6% shooting from the floor while forcing 20 turnovers. CSE dominated points off turnovers, 25-8 and had 42 points in the paint.
CSE returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Cazenovia College at 3 pm.
