Men's Soccer Plays to First Tie in Program History

Morristown, N.J. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's men's soccer team (0-2-1, 0-0 NEAC) ended the third game of the season in a tie, the first in program history, as the Eagles and the King's College of New York played to a 3-3 tie on Saturday afternoon.

Determined to get off to a hot start, Oumar Nabe burst past a defender and put home his first goal of the season just a minute into the game to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Ten minutes later, Raul Galindo Rojas headed in his first goal of the season to up the Eagles lead to 2-0. The Lions added a late goal in the half, however the Eagles took a 2-1 lead into halftime.

The second half started out slow for the Eagles as the Lions scored two straight goals to take a 3-2 lead with ten minutes remaining in the contest. Both team were held scoreless for the next ten minutes before Eduin Hernandez was taken down in the box, leading to a penalty kick with under two minutes remaining. Facing his first career penalty kick, Hernandez ripped the shot past the Lions keeper, giving the Eagles their third goal of the game, tying the score and sending the game into overtime.

In overtime, both teams had some opportunities, but were unable to convert as the game ended in a 3-3 tie. The tie was the first in school history for the second year program.

Jason Pineda finished with ten saves in net. The Eagles finished with 12 shots, including six shots on goal, both season highs.
