Valliant Effort Not Enough for Eagles in Opener

Morristown, N.J. – The College of Saint Elizabeth's men's soccer team (0-1, 0-0 NEAC) dropped its season opener to Yeshiva University, 2-0 on Friday afternoon.

Both team played an even match in the first half, locking down on defense. The Eagles found themselves with three shots on goal, but could not capitalize as both teams went into halftime scoreless.

In the second half, the Maccabees got on the board first as Alberto Benhamu put home the first goal of the game at the 29 minute mark.  With 12 minutes remaining, Yeshiva added another goal to take a 2-0 lead. The Eagles continued to battle, but could not manage enough offense, dropping the contest by two.

In his first career game in goal, Jason Pineda finished with five saves in net. Kevin Canseco finished with a team high three shots on offense for the Eagles.

The Eagles return to action on Wednesday when it hosts Berkley College at 2 pm.
