Women's Basketball Edged by Abington, 62-55

ABINGTON, P.A. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's women's basketball team (1-3, 0-1 NEAC) was edged in its first conference game of the season to Penn State Abington, 62-55 on Tuesday evening.  

Deja Ingram poured in a season high 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for her second straight game with a double-double.  Kamille Jacobs added a career high 13 points and 13 rebounds while Rakiyah Sellers chipped in with 10 points.

CSE's defense dominated in the opening quarter, holding Abington scoreless for almost eight minutes.  The Eagles managed to open up a nine-point lead during the stretch, however Abington closed on a 10-4 run to cut the Eagles lead to 13-10.  The Eagles lead for the majority of the second quarter before the Nittany Lions ended the quarter on a  10-0 run to take a 25-22 lead into halftime.

The third quarter featured Abington upping its lead to as much as six before the Eagles came storming back in the final two minutes, slicing the deficit to one heading into the final period.  With 6:20 remaining in the game, Nakiah Lane finished an and-one for the Eagles to tie the score at 46.  30 seconds later, Kamani Williams knocked down a free-throw to give the Eagles its first lead of the second half.  

CSE could not hold the lead, however, as Abington scored the next seven points to take a 53-47 lead.  The Eagles would not go away, cutting the deficit to two with 2:30 minutes remaining.  Despite getting within a field goal, Abington scored nine of the final 13 points to take the contest by seven.

The Eagles return to action on Saturday when it hosts Gallaudet University at 2 pm.
