Eagles Roll Past King's in Home Opener

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - Tino Gonzalez scored a career high 21 points as the College of Saint Elizabeth's men's basketball (2-2, 0-0 NEAC) team rolled past the King's College of New York, 79-54 on Monday evening.

Gonzalez's 21 points came on 9-13 from the floor.  Ka'ron Johnson added 13 points and five rebounds while Jemar Jordan added eight points and four rebounds.

The Eagles exploded out of the game early, scoring 17 of the first 20 points to take a 17-3 lead with 14:49 remaining in the half.  CSE upped the lead to 19 with back-to-back buckets by Ken'ly Aris.  Over the remainder of the final ten minutes, both teams traded buckets as the Eagles took a 37-22 lead into the break.

CSE started the second half like it did the first, scoring the first ten points to blow the game open at 47-22.  The Lions battled back with a 13-3 at the 6:10 mark run to slice the deficit to 13.  The Eagles, however, would not let King's get any closer, closing out the game on a 21-9 run to take the contest by 25.

CSE looks for its second straight win on Tuesday when it travels to Penn State Abington for the NEAC opener at 6 pm.
