Bronx, N.Y. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's women's volleyball team (4-11, 1-3 NEAC) soared passed Lehman College, 3-1 (25-13, 20-25, 25-15, 25-18) on Tuesday evening.
The Eagles used a 5-0 run and two 4-0 runs to take control of the first set, before taking it, 25-13. Â After dropping the second set 25-20, CSE rolled out of the gate in set three, winning the first six points. Midway through the set,
Diane Cuevas served four straight points to open up a 14-3 Eagles lead. The Eagles would not let Lehman get closer then six, before taking the set, 25-15.
Riding the momentum into the fourth set, CSE won right of the first nine points to quickly take an 8-1 lead. After Lehman trimmed the lead to five, the Eagles won the next five points to take a ten point lead. Both teams would trade points for the remainder of the set, before
Maura Farley put away game point, giving the Eagles the 3-1 victory.
Stephanie Mitarotonda lead the Eagles with 14 digs, a career high nine services aces, and seven kills. Farley finished with a game high 18 assists, nine digs, and six services aces. The Eagles finished with a season high 23 service aces.
CSE returns to action on Thursday when it hosts Staten Island College at 7 pm.
