Reading, Pa. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's women's volleyball team (10-16, 4-5 NEAC) dropped its final two matches of the season, 3-0 to Penn State Berks and to Shenandoah however clinched its first ever NEAC playoff birth on Saturday afternoon.
Despite dropping both matches, the Eagles ended the regular season with a 4-5 record in the NEAC. With a Penn State Abington loss on Saturday to Wilson, the Eagles secured the fourth seed in the South Division of the NEAC Postseason Tournament. CSE will travel back to Penn State Berks on Tuesday in the first round of the tournament.
The Eagles fell in the opening match to Penn State Berks, 3-0 (13-25, 10-25, 18-25).
Jessica Garreffa paced the Eagles with 12 digs, four assists, and two service aces.
Maura Farley added seven assists, two digs, and a service aces while
Yasmin'na Muhammad added four kills.
In the second match of the day, CSE fell to Shenandoah, 3-1 (14-25, 9-25, 25-23, 17-25).
Stephanie Mitarotonda led the Eagles, finishing with nine kills and thee blocks while Farley added 23 assists.
CSE will look to avenge Saturday's loss to Penn State Berks when it trvales to Reading, Pa. on Tuesday for the first round of the NEAC Tournament.
