Deja Ingram finished with 22 points and 21 rebounds as the College of Saint Elizabeth's women's basketball team (10-5, 8-2 NEAC) defeated Bryn Athyn, 74-69 on Tuesday evening.
Ingram finished with 22 points on 8-14 from the floor. Of the 21 rebounds, Ingram had an incredible 19 offensive boards.
Jasmine Poole finished with 21 points and eight rebounds while
Danesha Triplett added 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Trailing 6-3 early in the first quarter, the Eagles ran off a 17-2 run to open up a 12 point lead. The Lions scored the final two points of the quarter but CSE lead by ten heading into the second period. After the Lions cut the lead to three to begin the second quarter, Poole scored four straight points to give the Eagles a 24-17 lead. CSE upped the lead to as much as 11, however the Lions ended the half on a 12-3 run to get within 36-35 heading into the break.
Bryn Athyn opened up the second half scoring eight of the first twelve points to take a five-point lead midway through the third quarter.
Deja Ingram continued to dominate down low, scoring six straight points to get the Eagles back within one. With 13 seconds remaining,
Rakiyah Sellers buried a three-pointer from the corner to give the Eagles a 51-49 lead heading into the final ten minutes of play.
Leading 53-51, CSE scored the next six points to take a 58-51 lead. The game of runs continued over the next two minutes as Bryn Athyn knocked down three straight three-pointers to take a one point lead. The Eagles would score the next seven points to take a 67-62 lead with 1:13 remaining. Despite the Lions getting within three, the Eagles knocked down five clutch free-throws to close out the game.
CSE returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Penn College for a 12 pm tip.
