Morristown, N.J. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's women's basketball team (7-5, 5-2 NEAC) was edged in an exciting game to NEAC leading Lancaster Bible, 68-65 on Thursday evening.
Jasmine Poole led the Eagles with a near triple-double, finishing with 14 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
Deja Ingram added 10 points and 12 rebounds while
LaChe Robinson chipped in with 10 points.
After Lancaster led 21-18 after the first quarter, the Chargers scored the nine points of the second quarter to take a 13 point lead. Trailing by ten with 2 minutes to go in the half, Poole knocked down a three to slice the deficit to seven. The Chargers ended the half on a 6-0 run to take a 39-26 lead into the break.
The Eagles turned things around in the third quarter, starting on a 10-2 run to cut the lead to 41-36 with 5:42 remaining in the period. Trailing by five with 3:35 in the quarter, the Eagles ended the quarter on an 8-0 run to take a 48-45 lead into the final period.
After both teams traded buckets for the first four minutes, Robinson buried a corner three-pointer to give the Eagles a 59-56 lead. After Lancaster tied the score at 62, Ingram grabbed an offensive board, and scored the put back to regain a two point lead. With 42 seconds remaining, Lancaster hit a three-pointer from the corner, and to take a two-point lead. After a Charger made free-throw, the Eagles had a chance to tie the game up, but missed a last second three, dropping the contest 68-65.
CSE returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Gallaudet University at 1 pm.
