Morristown, N.J. – After dropping the first set, the College of Saint Elizabeth's volleyball team (2-2, 0-0 NEAC) rallied to win the next three sets, defeating Cairn University, 3-1 (15-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-17) on Thursday night.
After dropping the first set 25-15, the Eagles continued to be sluggish in the second set. After trailing 13-8, the Eagles won the next 5 points to tie the game up at 13. CSE stepped up their offense, rallying off five straight points to open the lead. The effort continued to improve as the set went on as the Eagles roared back to take the set 25-22.
CSE Stormed out of the gate in set three behind a raucous crowd, winning six of the first seven points to open up a five point lead. Nicole Morera continued the point barrage on serve, scoring five more points to open up a nine-point lead for the Eagles. CSE would continue to pour it on in the set, taking the fourth set 25-18.
In set 4, Yasmin'na Muhammad propped the Eagles, tallying off four kills in the set. CSE lead from the get go and never looked back, winning the set 25-17, and taking the match 3-1.
Muhammad had a stellar game for the Eagles, finishing with a game high 12 kills and two blocks. Christy Marte also added 12 kills while Nicole Morera had a season high 44 assists.
CSE returns to action on Tuesday when they host King's College of New York at 7:30 pm.
