Reading, Pa. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's softball team (8-11, 1-3 NEAC) struggled on offense in a sweep by Penn State Berks, dropping the doubleheader 6-0 and 5-1 on Wednesday afternoon.
Kayla Missau was the lone base runner for the Eagles in game one, drawing a walk in the sixth inning.  In the bottom of the sixth inning, Ashley Malek hit a three-run home run, giving Berks the 8-0 win in six innings. Jessica Rozick was dominate on the mound for the Nittany Lions, throwing a no-hitter while striking out ten Eagles.
The Eagles finally got on the scoreboard in the first inning of game two as
Samantha Albertson reached on an error, allowing
Heather Passaro to score. After tying the score in the bottom of the first, the Nittany Lions added two more runs in the second inning to take a 3-1 lead.
Rachael Romer held Berks down over the next two innings, but the Eagles offense wa snot able to cut into the deficit through the first five innings.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Berks added two more runs to open up a four run lead. The Eagles were unable to plate any runs in the final two innings, dropping the contest 5-1.
Julie Rodriguez went 2-3 in game two while
Heather Passaro added a hit and a run scored.
CSE returns to action on Saturday when they host Lancaster Bible at 12 pm.
