Washington, D.C. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's softball team (14-17, 5-9 NEAC) dropped the first game of a doubleheader to Gallaudet, 4-2, before downing the Bison in game two, 14-5.
After the Bison took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first of game one,
Allie Jenkins lined a two-run single to right, giving the Eagles a 2-1 lead in the top of the third inning. In the bottom of the third, Gallaudet plated three runs to take a 4-2 lead. The Eagles offense stalled the rest of the game, dropping the game, 4-2.
In game two, the Eagles stormed out of the gate, scoring six first inning runs.
Christina Scolaro and
Danesha Triplett hit two-run home runs in the inning, their first of the season.
Samantha Albertson and
Rachael Romer drove in a run each in the inning. The hits kept coming in the top of the second as Jenkins smacked a RBI triple, which was followed by an Albertson RBI single to give the Eagles a 8-1 lead.
Gallaudet edged the Eagles over the next three innings, outscoring CSE 4-3 to slice the lead to 11-5. In the top of the sixth inning, Triplett belted her second home run of the game, opening up a seven run lead. CSE would add another two more runs in the inning, taking the game 14-5 in six innings.
Triplett continued her hot streak at the dish, finishing with three hits, three RBI's and her first two home runs of the season over the two games.
Heather Passaro added four hits, four runs scored and three RBI's. Romer picked up her fourth victory of the season on the mound for the Eagles in game two.
CSE returns to action on Sunday for a pivotal doubleheader at Wilson College, beginning at 1 pm.
