Morristown, N.J. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's softball team (12-15, 3-7 NEAC) swept a pair of conference games from Lancaster Bible, 7-4 and 9-6 on Monday afternoon.
After the Chargers took a 1-0 lead in game one, the Eagles fought back in the bottom of the third inning, scoring three runs to take a 3-1 lead.
Allie Jenkins,
Samantha Albertson and
Danesha Triplett all had RBI's in the inning. After Lancaster cut the lead to one in the top of the fifth, Albertson lined a RBI single to give the Eagles a two-run lead. Later in the inning,
Danesha Triplett smacked a two-run double, opening up a four run lead for the Eagles.
Lancaster refused to go quietly, scoring two runs in the sixth inning to get back within two. In the bottom half of the inning, Jenkins lined another RBI single to up the lead back to three.
Marielis Alicea held the Chargers down in the final inning, picking up her fourth win on the season.
In game two,
Julie Rodriguez have CSE an early two-run lead, smacking a single to right, scoring
Morgan Sim and
Alyssabel Garcia. Lancaster's offense got going in the third inning, scoring six runs to take a four-run lead over the Eagles.
Determined to not let the game get out of hand, the Eagles stormed right back, scoring three runs in the bottom half of the inning to get back within one. Albertson and Triplett had run scoring hits while Garcia added a SAC fly in the inning. In the bottom of the fourth,
Heather Passaro and
Rachael Romer hit back to back RBI doubles, giving the Eagles a 7-6 lead.
The Eagles added another run in the sixth, and one in the seventh, while holding the Chargers scoreless over the final four inning. Alicea picked up her second win on the day and her fifth overall on the season.
Albertson picked up three hits and three RBI's on the day while Jenkins added five hits and 3 RBI's.
CSE will look to continue to rack up conference wins when they travel to Lancaster Bible on Wednesday for a 3 pm start.
