Eagles Bats Silenced Against Medaille

Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The College of Saint Elizabeth's softball team (1-4, 0-0 NEAC) was edged by Medaille College, 9-0 on Wednesday morning in Myrtle Beach.

Rachael Romer had a great start to the game, throwing two scoreless innings for the Eagles. The Eagles offense managed to get three hits in the first three innings, but couldn't plate any runners due to base running mistakes.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Mavericks struck first, scoring three runs with two outs to take a 3-0 lead over the Eagles. In the top of the fourth, Kristie Dlugosz hit a lead-off home run for Medaille to open up a 4-0 lead.

The Eagles bats struggled to continue the momentum from yesterday's 19 hit outburst, getting just four hits through the first five innings. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Mary Price hit a grand slam to left field, giving Medaille the 9-0 victory.

Allie Jenkins was a bright spot on offense for the Eagles, going 2-2 with two singles. Heather Passaro added another hit to her season total, improving her batting average to .600 on the season.

CSE returns to action on Thursday when they take on NJCU and Summit University.
