Softball's Win Streak Halted at Del Val

Doylestown, Pa. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's Softball Team (7-8, 0-0 NEAC) fell in a pair of out of conference games to Delaware Valley, 7-4 and on Thursday afternoon.

In game one, Maddy O'Donohue hit a home run in the first inning to give Del Val a 1-0 lead. After Del Val scored a run in the bottom of the second inning, the Eagles got on the board in the top of the third, scoring an unearned run to get back within one. Del Val opened the game up in the bottom of the fourth, scoring four runs to take a 6-1 lead.

After Del Val tacked on another run in the fifth, the Eagles fought back in the top of the sixth, scoring three runs off a Rachael Romer double and Allie Jenkins single. Despite having the tying run at bat with two outs, the Eagles were unable to score any more runs, dropping the game 7-4.

Game two began as a pitcher's duel as both teams were held scoreless through the first three innings. Jenkins, on the mound for the Eagles, surrendering just three hits through the first three innings. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Del Val broke through, scoring six runs to open a 6-0 lead. The Eagles offense struggled in game two, getting just three hits through the first six innings. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Del Val scored two runs, ending the game 8-0 on the eight run rule. 

Jenkins finished the day 3-7 at the dish. Kayla Miessau added two hits in game one while Samantha Albertson had two hits over the two games.

CSE returns to action on Saturday when they host Wilson College in the first NEAC doubleheader of the season at 12 pm.
