Eagles Make it Four in a Row With Sweep Over Rosemont

Rosemont, Pa. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's softball team (7-6, 0-0 NEAC) made it four wins in a row with a doubleheader sweep of Rosemont College, 10-7 and 14-1 on Tuesday afternoon.

The Eagles found themselves in a big hole in game one, trailing 5-0 after the first two innings. Trailing 5-1 in the top of the fifth, Rachael Romer and Alyssabel Garcia knocked in back to back RBI's to get the Eagles within two. Later in the inning, Kayla Gonzalez ripped a two-run single to right, tying the score at five. Sharolin Sanders followed with a RBI double, giving the Eagles their first lead of the game at 6-5.

CSE continued their offensive onslaught in the sixth inning as Allie Jenkins smacked a triple to right field, driving in two and giving the Eagles a three-run lead. CSE would tack on two more runs over the next two innings, taking the contest 10-7.

In game two, the Eagles stormed out of the gate, scoring five runs in the first inning. Garcia, Marielis Alicea and Kayla Miessau had run scoring singles in the inning, resulting in five RBI's. CSE added two more runs in the top of the second to open up a 7-0 lead.

After Rosemont scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the second, the Eagles continued to pour it on in the top of the third. Romer and Jenkins lined RBI singles to open up a 10-1 lead for CSE. After the Eagles tacked on their eleventh run of the game, Garcia smashed a three-run home run to center, her first of the season, giving the Eagles a 14-1 lead. CSE held the Ravens scoreless in the bottom of the fifth, giving the Eagles the 14-1 win in five innings.

Jenkins lead the Eagles at the dish, finishing the day 5 for 8, including 4-4 in game two, four RBI's and six runs scored. Garcia hit her first home run of the season while driving in seven runs over the two games. Romer added four hits, two RBI's, six runs scored, and picked up her second win of the season on the mound.

The win puts the Eagles over .500 for the first time this season. CSE returns to action on March 31 when they travel to Delaware Valley for a 3 pm start.
