Eagles Roar Back, Defeat Keuka 51-48 in Overtime

Morristown, N.J. - The College of Saint Elizabeth's basketball team (9-13, 9-8 NEAC) roared back from 11 down in the final three minutes of regulation, to defeat Keuka College on Think Pink Day, 51-48 in overtime on Saturday afternoon.

Trailing 44-33 with 2:50 remaining in the fourth quarter, CSE used a 9-0 run to get within two with 53 seconds remaining. After Keuka knocked down a free throw with 12 seconds remaining, Jasmine Poole buried a long range three to tie the score at 45, sending the game to overtime.

Both teams went scoreless for the first four minutes of overtime before Sharolin Sanders nailed a clutch three-pointer, giving the Eagles a 48-45 lead. Ten seconds later, Lauren Anten swished home a three-pointer for the Wolfpack to tie the score up at 48. With 18 seconds remaining in overtime, Deja Ingram scored the two biggest points of the game, making a layup under the basket to give CSE a 50-48 lead. Amerisse Rogers added a last second free throw to complete the Eagles comeback.

Ingram had a spectacular game for the Eagles, finishing with 19 points, 16 rebounds and seven blocked shots in the win. Ashley Pledger knocked down three three-pointers in route to a nine-point outing.

Despite a poor shooting performance by the Eagles, the defense stepped up late in the game. CSE held Keuka to just 29.8% from the field while forcing 22 turnovers. Keuka managed to score just four points over the final 9:30 minutes of the game.

During the game, members of CSE's SAAC took donations to raise money for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation as part of Think Pink Day.

With the win, the Eagles managed to keep their playoff hopes alive. CSE will need to win their remaining three games, while getting help from other teams in the division. CSE looks to continue their winning ways tomorrow against Wells College on Senior Day at 1 pm.
